| Famous for it’s mayor, Clint Eastwood, Carmel is a major tourist attraction for many other reasons. The town borders the Pebble Beach golf course and 17 mile drive where you can see first hand how the rich and famous live their lives of luxury in houses the size of hotels bordering on the ocean. Carmel is also a very quiet town at the top of the hill before arriving at the beach. It offers some amazing restaurants and some great shopping for tourists. Although the gift shops are quite pricey, the restaurants are quite reasonably priced. However, before eating a meal, be sure to head down to the beach to take a look at some of the whitest sandy beaches in California. The water is pristine and the sand is like powder. Unfortunately, the water is quite cold because only a few hundred feet out into the ocean the surface drops off into an abys several hundred feet deep. The waves are fierce in Carmel and swimming is difficult but surfing is great. |
