| Definitely a local hot spot, Santa Claus Lane is worth checking out. Located just to the right of highway 101, Santa Claus Lane is just North of Carpinteria. You’ll have to cross the railroad tracks to get to this private section of beach but it’s always got a few people lying in the sand relaxing. This stretch of beach is great for families and for kids. There aren’t many rocks as you walk out into the ocean and the water is relatively calm. Things to keep in mind: 1. Parking in the busy season can be hard to find. So, get there early if you want to find a good spot. 2. Also, there are no functional public bathrooms, so be prepared to rough it. There is an outhouse if you’re desperate to go. 3. Also, the restaurants are at the end of the beach, so it is quite a hike if you park at the far end of the beach to get to any food. Santa Claus Lane is also a great place to start surfing. We definitely pick this as a hot spot for California! |
