Goleta is a small city right next to Santa Barbara. The beauty of Goleta is that it’s hidden. The tourists all flock to Santa Barbara and tend to leave Goleta completely to the locals. And, every day in the summer, after work, many locals come to BBQ at the beach. They come in droves and they BBQ, carne asada, steak, hot dogs and everything else that you can think of on the grill.
There’s also a great park for kids. There’s a place to throw horse shoes and there’s a great little beach to just sit and relax. And if you’re tired of the grill, then there’s an amazing beachside restaurant that offers top notch food – check out our review coming soon.
In some spots the sand seems more like dirt than sand and the beach often has scattered seaweed and the natural oil that seeps through into the ocean is definitely noticeable on Goleta Beach. But it’s often not as crowded as other beaches and is much more secluded than other beaches. So, given the many, many things to do here, we think you’ll like it. Come join us for a BBQ. We’ll let you know when we’ll be there for sure.
