A day at the beach in Carpinteria, California deserves a great meal. So, we stopped in at Tony’s for some ribs. The price was great. We had a full rack of ribs and split it between three of us for under $20.00 and it came with a full plate of pasta and garlic bread. The ribs however, just weren’t up to par. We had the beef ribs and there was barely any meet on the bone and when we did find some meet it didn’t taste quite right. The spaghetti on the other had was incredible. So, we may just have chosen the wrong meal. We also felt the service was impeccable. The waitress was always right there and didn’t miss a beat. As for the decor, well, you’re looking at a low class restaurant. The chair’s are tattered, the tables are old and the restaurant looks more like a dinner than a restaurant. However, it is typical of a small beach town, which is pretty accurate for Carpinteria except you can find some pretty high class restaurants in Carpinteria if you know where to look.
Overall
We give Tony’s a 60% rating. The ribs just weren’t up to par and the chairs and tables were too tattered. As such, we can’t recommend that you eat at Tony’s until they make some changes. Here’s what we suggest.
Suggestions:
1. Buy some new tables and refurbish the chairs.
2. Take all non-Italian food off the menu. Stick with what you know. Our bad for ordering the ribs at an Italian restaurant.
